Benny Carter

Following his election in 2019 as District 3 County Commissioner, Benny Carter became aware of the need for an organization to reduce roadside litter and encourage recycling. Following community and county input, the decision was made to re-establish Keep Cherokee Beautiful as a community-led and county-supported (i.e. a hybrid) organization. By-laws were established, the Board of Directors were appointed, and not for profit status was registered with the state. Benny Carter currently serves as an ex-officio member of the Keep Cherokee Beautiful Board and enthusiastically participates in current board meetings and community events. Benny has joined in many roadside cleanups since the re-founding of Keep Cherokee Beautiful in 2021, leading the way and inspiring others to follow.
